Shopify store build and redesign
The problem
A platform migration looks simple from the outside: export the products, import them into the new platform, publish. In practice search visibility drops almost every time after a migration, and the drop often stays uncorrected because nobody separates what’s caused by missing redirects from what simply takes time. A new store, meanwhile, is often built on a default taxonomy that doesn’t match the search engine’s own categorisation. The products are in the store but not in the results.
What we do
We diagnose the post-migration search-visibility drop systematically: locating missing or broken redirects, connecting the search engine’s own data feed to a data platform for analysis, and separating, in the fix plan, what can be corrected with code from what simply needs time. We audit baseline on-page SEO across the whole catalogue and fix missing or generic titles and descriptions. We align the platform’s own product taxonomy with the search engine’s taxonomy across the whole catalogue against the platform’s official taxonomy file, and produce the fix files for the import tool.
We design internal-linking structure based on research: combining published, controlled studies on search visibility and usability with your store’s own search and traffic data. If the store is expanding into a marketplace channel, Amazon or Zalando for example, we design feed, stock and price synchronisation and audit the channel’s real profitability before you commit. The cost structure is worth opening up in full rather than guessing from the platform’s own summary. If marketplaces don’t suit your store, we build international reach on search-based shopping ads instead.
Where useful, we also map a competitor’s technical platform: the platform, the APIs and the category structure, read entirely from the public site, without any internal access.
What you own
Your own account and theme on the store platform. Fix files, taxonomy mappings and linking documentation in your own repository. No dependency on us once the work is done.
What we don’t promise
- A testing platform or a standing optimisation contract by default. A/B tests and conversion optimisation are run in your store with your tools; ongoing optimisation is agreed separately.
- Full search-visibility recovery by a given date. Part of the drop corrects itself over time, not through code. We say so upfront, not afterwards.
- The same depth of marketplace experience on every marketplace. Our experience runs deepest on two major marketplaces; a new marketplace’s specifics are scoped case by case.
First step
Tell us your current platform, if any, and your goal. We often start with technical and search diagnostics before we propose a bigger build.
